Autumn work, writers’ work

For a number of years, we’ve been able to discover the work of directing-writers, which indeed goes beyond directing actors or defining the action space or set, and looks at the question of creating one’s own writing.

This task must be accompanied by the author’s specific notes for the director and generally leads to performances where one’s relationship with language, with the spoken word, are paramount.

The challenge of this workshop is to ask directing-writers to detach themselves of this private gest, and to take up the writing of an author-director.

Fourteen third-year students from l'École Régionale d'Acteur de Cannes are invited as the actors assisting these ‘meetings’, one of which is between Alain BÉHAR and Didier-Georges GABILY, and another between Hubert COLAS and Rodrigo GARCIA.

For the first time, they ‘come into contact’ with the public.

This workshop took place from the 4-7 November 2002, at Montevidéo, Marseille.
